I had a chance to work with some great kits at Stuff to Scrap during the month of September and wanted to show them to you.

First up is Down on the Farm by Scraps by Andrea. She previously sold this kit as separate pieces during July's Build a Kit. There are 14 Cardstocks, 6 Gingham Papers, 20 Patterned papers, and 80 elements included in the kit now that the pieces have been combined.

I thought this kit worked perfectly for the house we lived in for about six weeks this summer:

The other kit I had a chance to play with was Sea Life by Mommy Me Time Scrapper. I absolutely adore all the cute elements in this kit! Scraps by Andrea also has a Sea Life kit in the store, and when Mommy Me Time Scrapper saw it, she knew it just needed a few little mermaids, so she created this awesome kit to coordinate with Andrea's:

I used this kit to scrap some pictures of my kiddo swimming with all his cousins when our family got together over the summer:

Space Cadets by AmyDane Designs

My son loves the Lego Star Wars video game, and as a result, all things Star Wars. Forget the fact that he hasn't seen any of the movies or even the cartoon series. So when I saw AmyDane Designs' newest kit in the store, I knew I absolutely needed it.

Space Cadets comes with 86 elements, 28 papers and 2 alphas. The add on has another 14 elements and 10 papers. Click on each preview to see their full descriptions at Stuff to Scrap:

After competing in Stuff to Scrap's This Scrapper's Got Talent competition this summer, they asked me to join their creative team. Of course I said yes! And if the first kit I've had a chance to work with is an indicator of what's in store for me at Stuff to Scrap, I know I'm going to love creating for them.

I had a chance to play with Lovely Creations' newest release, Beach Party. Not only is the kit packed with gorgeous beach elements, she's also released matching papers and word art. Click on the previews to grab these at Stuff to Scrap:

Dream Big Designs has a new kit out that I just had to show you! She drew all those cute sea animals herself!! Aren't they just incredible?

As long as I'm here, showing you Scrapable news, I might as well show you this month's gorgeous store collab, Off the Beaten Path:

While the kit has lots of awesome nature elements, as soon as I saw the soft beautiful papers and the cute little bear, I knew I wanted to use the kit to scrap these sleeping pictures of my sweet baby:

The picture I scrapped is actually one I have scrapped before. I was recently going through all my LOs, compiling them to put into a book, and realized that I really don't like most of my pages. It's been almost a year since I started digital scrapbooking and my style/skill level has changed so much. Which unfortunately means that before I can get my son's baby book printed, I'm likely to rescrap about half of the pages. Well, let's hope it's not half as that kid already has one huge baby book waiting to be printed. I do really love the new LO for this picture though. It's definitely going in the "to be printed" folder.

Charity Brag Book Blog Train

Hi all! As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to help raise money for this cause, Digi Scraps Drive-In has a great new charity collab out. Battle of the CT FREEBIE

Hi all! Over at Digiscrap Addicts they are having a battle of the CTs. I'm on the team for one of my designers, Colie's Corner. For our first week challenge, we had to choose one of three recipes to follow and the whole team had to scrap a page with that recipe. Then each team also had to decide on an equation and all use the same one.

Here's my page based on the recipe and equation our team chose:

I used several of Colie's kits to make my LO. The main ones I used were Love Rocks, Life's a Stage, and Side Note.

I loved the way the equation turned out. I used the alphas from Life's a Stage and Tis the Season to make it. And because I love it so much, I'm giving it to you as a freebie!

A Trip to the Doctor

I've had these pictures of my super cute niece sitting in my inbox for over three months, but knew they couldn't be scrapped with just any kit. Well I finally found the perfect kit for them. It's called Not the Doctor by C.W. Picket and Co.

The kit was inspired by a trip to the ER with her daughter. Sad day for her daughter, but happy day for us scrappers. Not the Doctor comes with 14 papers and 28 elements and is perfect for scrapping scrapes and bruises and doctor visits too!

I know the preview has lots of bright colors. That's probably what first caught my eye. That and I love the color orange, so anything with orange in it always stands out to me. But I love that it also has enough soft colors in there that it's perfect for a LO of a baby's first trip to the doctor.

See, what did I tell you? It was the perfect kit for these photos!

My Rock Star

Space Cowboy

So the point of scrapping is to do something with those millions of photos sitting on my hard drive, right? Right. Except sometimes I take pictures just so I can use a cute new scrap kit. Such is the case with Melly's Scraps new kit Space Cowboy:

Just love this kit! (Click on the preview to grab it at Digi Scraps Drive-In.) And my kiddo loves Toy Story. He has a Buzz doll and recently got a Woody doll that he plays with all the time. I just hadn't gotten around to taking any pictures of him playing with his toys since he'd gotten Woody.

But once I saw this kit, I knew it was time to remedy that situation. And of course, my son is always willing to pose for a few shots for me. I'm glad to have this moment of his life now captured.

It's funny to me that I started scrapping to do something with all the pictures I have of my son, but now that I scrapbook, I take more pictures just to scrap with!

DSDI Happenings

New Release: Someone's in the Kitchen and a FREEBIE

Seems like forever since I posted a new release on here....So without further ado, here is Scraps by Andrea's newest kit, Someone's in the Kitchen:

Someone's In The Kitchen is a fun cooking/kitchen themed kit geared towards both boys and girls. While it's perfect to scrap all of your baking or kitchen fun pictures, it can be used for a variety of other memories. There are 28 papers, 108 elements, and an upper & lower alpha. Queen of Scrap: baby layouts

There's a competition going on at ScrapMatters called Queen of Scrap. There's a winner for whoever posts the most layouts created during the month of May. Then there's also a queen crowned and two princesses that are picked by the higher ups at the store. I have no ambition to win any of those four things. However, there are also participation prizes that you can get for posting so many layouts (you have to be signed up first, but that just requires saying that you want to play).

This has gotten me crazy scrapping this month and I'm having so much fun doing it. Currently, I'm at 25 layouts for the month. That's layouts that have all been created this month. I didn't post the few layouts I had that I'd created at the end of last month that didn't get uploaded until this month.

Designer Spotlight: Snips and Snails

I have some stuff to show you today by the wonderful Stephanne Moorehead. Her design name is Snips and Snails and she sells exclusively at Divine Digital.

Here's her newest kit, Japanese Cherry Blossom, which came out last Friday:

I love scrapping pages that match as perfectly as possible to the kits I'm using. Typically this means that I match the colors of the clothes that my baby's wearing in the photos to the colors in the kit. When I saw Japanese Cherry Blossom, the first thing I thought of was when we were in Hawaii and went to this Japanese botanical-like garden park. I don't know what you'd actually call it, but that's the general idea. I went and found our Hawaii pictures and then remembered, after finding them, that I'd been nursing the baby in the car when we stopped there, so there aren't any pictures of him at the park. And what's the point of scrapping pictures that aren't of my baby?

So instead, since I was already in my Hawaii folder, I thought that the pictures of us at the luau looked great with this kit. Here are the two pages I came up with:

This next one isn't new, but it's definitely one of my favorites of Stephanne's.

I used this kit to scrap my Mother's Day pictures from 2007.

Scraps by Andrea has a new kit out today called Happy Monsters. It's full of bright colors, and of course, cute little monsters. She has a matching set of cardstocks and glitters for this kit too.

And here are two different layouts I made using this kit. The first one is primarily orange, since that's my favorite color. But for the second, I tried to steer clear of orange, since it's not everyone's favorite color.

Surprisingly, despite my love for orange, I loved the way the second layout turned out. So I made it into a freebie QP for you! Just click on the image to download at 4shared.

Baby Book -- Not Abandoned

I know I haven't posted baby book pages in a while and there's a reason for that: I don't know what page I'm on anymore. See, I got stuck on blessing pictures because the page number that I was at, the blessing would have been on the right hand side (in the printed book), which made me want to do only one page for it, since the pages wouldn't be printed side by side. But there's just too many pictures for one page. No matter what I do with them, I just don't like it. So I've skipped it completely and have been creating random pages totally out of order. Which is probably bad considering, now they don't have a side by side cohesiveness to them. (In fact, I finished a page tonight than when I went to put it in the folder, I realized I had a page from that same date --different pictures-- and the two layouts totally don't match. Hmmmm....not sure what I'm going to do about that one yet.)

Anyway, here's a look at the pages from about 7 weeks through 3 months, or at least, the ones I have done (minus the one that I finished tonight, which you'll get to see on Monday...assuming I don't change it.)

I do have an idea on how to fix the baby book problem. I'm thinking if I condense my Easter pages from four pages to just three, then I the blessing pictures won't be a problem anymore. And the fourth Easter page isn't really that Eastery, so it will look fine opposite something else if it's moved to the third page instead. But that means rescrapping the first three pages to condense them...

Speed Scap at STS

Tomorrow, Scraps by Andrea is hosting a speed scrap at Stuff to Scrap. It should be a lot of fun. If you've never done one, here's how they work. Andrea will give out instructions over the course of an hour and you follow the instructions, or however you interpret the instructions, to make a layout and post it in the gallery at Stuff to Scrap. A lot of people usually just hang out in the chat room until about step five (which is forty minutes in) then finally go start their layouts.

Click on the flier to head to the speed scrap section of the forum.

Even though the flier says standard time, it's really daylight time. Which is probably only something people in Arizona think about since we're always on standard time.

My Turtle Baby

It seems like so long ago, but I used to be obsessed with turtles. When my son was a newborn, he reminded me of a turtle. For at least a year after that, I bought all kinds of turtle stuff: stuffed animals, baby toys, clothes, decorations, even a turtle kite. He was a turtle for his first halloween and had a turtle party for his first birthday. Somewhere along the line though, he outgrew his turtle phase.

When I saw this kit from Scraps by Andrea, I knew it was perfect to scrap some of the many baby pictures I have. I mean, just look at all those cute turtles! (Preview is linked to her store.)

I kind of miss that cute turtle baby.

Do they look like cousins? Both boys reportedly look just like their fathers (who happen to be brothers), but then again, I've never thought my baby looked like his daddy. He just looks like himself.

Finding the Fun

I really love scrapping. And not just scrapping, but being a part of the online community. I love making friends in the forums and both leaving love and receiving love in the galleries. I love being able to create for awesome designers. This past weekend, there was a bit of a scandal in the scrapbook community which really rattled me and I had a hard time scrapping after I found out the news.

Last night, or perhaps the wee hours of this morning, I was able to find some fun in scrapping again. The color challenge at Stuff to Scrap had some of the most adorable mini kits to download. The bright colors totally lifted my spirits.

To answer a few questions that you guys have asked me...I use photoshop elements to make my pages (because I don't have photoshop on my computer, only elements -- but if you're an amateur photographer like me, you really don't need anything fancier than photoshop elements). Sometimes I use templates, which gives you the basic look of the layout and then you add in all your own photos, papers and elements. Other times, I don't use templates and just drag everything to where I want it (like with these ones today). If you're wanting to get started, don't be intimidated, it's really rather easy. And you can't do it wrong, because the only person who has to like your finished page is you. So if you've been thinking about it, try downloading a free kit off one of the millions of scrapbooking sites online and just start playing with it.

Here are some layouts I made using the kit "Missionary Memories Elder" by Down This Road Designs. The first one is a really old photo that I thought worked well with the kit, and the other three are from our trip to Palmyra last summer.

Puppy Love
